Impacted Services and Programs

The majority of Auglaize County Health Department (ACHD) resources are necessary to combat the COVID-19 Pandemic in Auglaize County. ACHD  is evaluating our normal services on a case-by-case basis at this time to see what can be put on hold while we are responding to COVID-19.

We ask that the public be understanding as some services and programs may become impacted. ACHD will be posting on our website and social media of which services will be impacted and postponed.

COVID-19 Information Update

As of March 16, 2020, there are 50 confirmed cases in the State of Ohio. ACHD does not have any confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the county.

Significant measures are being taken to help slow down the spread of COVID-19. These measures will slow the spread of the virus and reduce the impact on our healthcare systems. Last week, Governor DeWine ordered the banning of mass gatherings, closure of Ohio schools, and is strongly encouraging parents to find alternate plans for their children in daycares.

On March 15, 2020, the Director of Ohio Department of Health (ODH), Amy Acton, MD, MPH, signed an order closing down dine in options for bars and restaurants. Food delivery and carry-out are still permitted.

ACHD also wants to remind Auglaize County residents of precautions and planning that can help protect you from contracting COVID-19 and other seasonal viruses. ACHD and ODH are strongly encouraging social distancing to prevent close contact and the potential for spreading the virus. Other means of prevention is to practice personal prevention methods such as:

  • Washing your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds
  • Use alcohol-based hand sanitizer when soap and water are unavailable.
  • Cover your mouth with a tissue or sleeve when sneezing or coughing.
  • Avoid touching your eyes, nose, or mouth with unwashed hands.
  • Stay home when you are sick.
  • Avoid contact with people who are sick.
  • Clean high-touch areas every day using household cleaning spray or wipes according to label directions.
  • For up to date information visit or call 1-833-4-ASK-ODH.

If you feel that you may be experiencing symptoms of COVID-19 (fever, cough, shortness of breath), stay home and contact your healthcare provider by phone for guidance.

ACHD encourages you to be kind to each other during this difficult time. We are all in this together. Information continues to change rapidly.

ACHD will continue to monitor the situation and will provide updates as warranted. If you have any questions, please contact our staff at (419) 738-3410.
