Job Posting: WIC Peer Helper

Role and Responsibilities: Under general supervision provide experienced breastfeeding support and guidance one-on-one to pregnant and postpartum Women, Infants, & Children (WIC) participants. Examples of work include but are not limited to: Offer breastfeeding education to participants; support breastfeeding families by phone, in person, and Facebook; maintain the Auglaize County Breastfeeding Facebook Page; make referrals to the lactation consultant or appropriate health care professionals; issue breast pumps; serve as a breastfeeding resource person to WIC staff; assist with clinic displays; and assist with planning outreach events.

Experience/Education Requirements: Qualified candidate will have breastfed an infant exclusively or substantially for at least six months; has been a former or current WIC participant or eligible for WIC services; ability to communicate effectively and establishing working relationships with clients; and ability to plan and organize work effectively. Valid Ohio driver’s license and acceptable driving record required.

Pay Range: $12.00 starting rate, negotiable based on experience and certification(s)

Work Status: 16 hours/week
