Infectious Disease

The Auglaize County Health Department is committed to protecting the health and safety of our residents by preventing the spread of communicable diseases.

Monitoring

The disease monitoring program gathers information on infectious conditions of public health concern from doctors, hospitals, and laboratories. Several websites are monitored for local, national, and international trends so that professionals can prepare for potential increases of disease and emerging infections. Information is also collected on some behaviors that may put people at risk of disease, and on medical procedures such as immunizations, which may help prevent disease. We use the information to detect and control disease outbreaks, treat patients, and provide education.

Reportable Diseases

The level of urgency and method of reporting varies depending on the disease classification. Please refer to the Infectious Disease Control Manual for the most complete and current information.
